Casey + Ryan’s Mountain Micro Wedding in Colorado Springs
Are you looking to have a mountain micro wedding in Colorado Springs? Well let Casey and Ryan’s intimate, rainy wedding be an inspiration as you dream up your day. I’m obsessed with everything about their wedding. Their style, the unique hotel, getting married in the rain with complete privacy. When I show this gallery to inquiring couples, it has literally convinced some of them to make Colorado Springs their wedding destination. I love when couples’ wedding days can inspire others.
Wedding Day Starting at The Kinship Landing
You guys. If you want to have a mountain micro wedding in Colorado Springs, I can not stress enough how amazing The Kinship Landing is to be a home base for you and your guests. This is not your average hotel. The rooms are uniquely designed and each have a garage style door that opens to the outside. There are bunk rooms, suites, and even a camp deck. Seriously an option to accommodate every type of traveler coming to your wedding.
We started the day getting ready at their rooms in The Kinship Landing. I love all the textures and features I could use to get detail shots and fun ways to capture this part of their wedding day. We then headed downstairs to the greenhouse to have a private first look and an opportunity to just be together for a few minutes before heading out to their mountainous ceremony site.
Rainy Day Wedding
Rain on your wedding day is pretty magical if you ask me. I loved Casey and Ryan’s laid back approach to embracing Colorado’s unpredictable weather. They decided to go ahead and get married in the rain and it was so romantic. I love that they ditched the umbrellas half way through and celebrated with a first dance immediately after the ceremony. Literally dancing in the rain, SO fun and memorable.
Thankfully in Colorado, rainstorms come and go pretty quickly. After the ceremony, we got to enjoy the beautiful post rain light and explore the canyon.
Private Wedding Ceremony in the Mountains
One of the benefits of it raining on your wedding day is that they had this amazing wedding ceremony in the mountains without onlookers or people driving by. It made it feel so intimate and added to the adventure of the day for them and their guests.
Wedding Dress with Sleeves
Ok and can’t not talk about Casey’s gorgeous wedding dress with cape style sleeves. OBSESSED. Flowy additions to your wedding dress add SO much to your style and images. Especially in the mountains where they have the chance to flow with the wind. If you’re on the fence about getting a bridal cape or flowy sleeves, do it.
Wedding Bouquet with Native to COS Flowers
As soon as Emily from Flora De Gloria brought in the flowers, we were all freaking out about how gorgeous they were. I love that they reflected Colorado Springs native flowers and had a natural, gathered from a field feel. It’s playful, wild, and romantic all in one. Perfect for a mountain micro wedding in Colorado Springs.
Private Dinner at Phantom Canyon Brewing
After we finished up photos, we met up with everyone to have a private dinner at Phantom Canyon Brewing. During photos the sun came out but we could see the storm settling over the city. By the time we got to Phantom Canyon it was pouring which made it all the more cozy. It was a perfect way to end the day.
I love when couples who have micro weddings choose to do a private dinner like this. It’s such a fun way to celebrate and enjoyable for all your guests. Truly a great way to come together and not worry about all the cheesy things that happen at every wedding.
Colorado Springs has a lot of great options for this type of reception. My favorites in addition to Phantom Canyon are the greenhouse at Kinship Landing, The bar at Almagre, and Pikes Peak Lager House.
Why You Should Have a Mountain Micro Wedding in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs is seriously an amazing destination for a micro wedding. There is lots to do and see, amazing places to stay, tons of good food, craft beer and cocktails, there is something for everyone. I love that it is super accessible with an airport right in town.
